The Environmental Protection Agency has named Nissan a 2021 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year in Sustained Excellence, recognizing Nissan’s ongoing commitment to energy efficient products and practices and to protecting the environment. Nissan has now earned the title of ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year 10 years in a row and 12 times overall.
The ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year is the most prestigious award the EPA offers. Nissan has been an EPA ENERGY STAR® Partner since 2006, and in that time has worked hard to reduce its manufacturing footprint in the US and achieve long-term sustainability.
According to Nissan, in 2020 the brand managed to reduce its production energy by 21 percent in its US manufacturing and assembly plants. Nissan has improved the efficiency of its production at every level in the last 15 years, training its employees on energy management and even using more environmentally friendly painting methods.
Nissan is committed to energy efficiency in its production, but also in the kind of vehicles the brand makes. The Nissan LEAF was one of the first electric cars on the market without a luxury price tag and now is one of the most competitive EVs on the market with a range of 226 miles for the LEAF S PLUS. The upcoming Nissan Ariya brings a more luxurious crossover to the EV game, and many of its vehicles are available as hybrids.
