Nissan closed out the year with two all-important awards to add to its shelf, courtesy of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Back in December of 2020, the safety organization named the 2021 Nissan Altima an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ while it doled out a rating of Top Safety Pick for the 2021 Nissan Sentra.
A hallmark of the Nissan Altima sedan is its suite of Nissan Intelligent Mobility™ technology, which includes ProPILOT Assist, Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, and Nissan Safety Shield® 360. Meanwhile, the Nissan Sentra benefits from updated optional thin projector LED headlights, more standard safety technologies than any other vehicle in its class, and standard Nissan Safety Shield®.
Among the Nissan Safety Shield® 360 active driver-assist safety technologies are Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Rear Automatic Braking.
“In 2021 Nissan will offer Safety Shield 360 as standard equipment on 10 models,” remarked Jared Haslam, vice president, product planning, Nissan U.S. and Canada. “Advanced driver assistance systems can help significantly reduce crashes and we are working to make these technologies available throughout our lineup. We are proud to see both Altima and Sentra recognized by IIHS and its rigorous testing criteria.”
Both the 2021 Nissan Sentra and Altima are available for test drive and purchase at Galesburg Nissan in Galesburg, Illinois.
